Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating funding in the amount of $19,480 from
the Maine Health Access Foundation.
Responsible Department: Health and Community Services
Commentary: This resolve will accept and appropriate $19,480 in planning grant funds from
the Maine Health Access Foundation to identify 1-2 critical health issues in the Penquis Region.
If approved, Bangor will serve as the lead agency bringing together a diverse group
representing public and private organizations across multiple industries and sectors. The
partners include Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems; Eastern Maine Development Corporation;
Penquis; Penobscot Community Health Care; St. Joseph Healthcare; Community Health &
Counseling Services; Bangor Area Homeless Shelter; Town of Orono; Eastern Area Agency on
Aging; Wellspring; Charlotte White Center; Greater Bangor Chamber of Commerce; Bangor
School Department; University of Maine; and Pro -Elder Consulting, LLC. The term of the grant is
for one-year from November 1, 2013 through October 31, 2014.

BE IT ORDERED THAT: a $19,480 Grant from the Maine Health Access Foundation is hereby
accepted and appropriated to bring together a diverse group representing public and private
organizations across multiple industries and sectors to work collectively to identify 1-2 critical
health issues that warrant attention in the Bangor region.
