Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $74,700 in additional grant funds from the
Federal Aviation Administration and $4,151 from the Maine Department of Transportation under the
Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) Program, Grant #59.

Commentary: Due to a Calculation error in the previous request, the airport is requesting
authorization to accept and appropriate additional grant funds in the amount of $74,700 from the
Federal Aviation Administration and $4,151 from the Maine Department of Transportation under the
Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program, grant # 59 for rehabilitation of the subsurface drainage
system on a portion of the commercial aircraft parking apron and the replacement and upgrade of the
runway guard lights on the airfield. This resolve does not result in the need to appropriate any
additional local funds and was recently approved by the City Council at its August 12, 2013 meeting.

CITY OF BANGOR
(TITLE.) Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $74,700 in additional grant funds from the Federal
Aviation Administration and $4,151 from the Maine Department of Transportation under the Airport
Improvement Plan (AIP) Program, Grant #59.
WHEREAS, Thews applications to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Maine Department of
Transportation for Airport Improvement Project grant funds for this project at Bangor
International Airport have been accepted, and the Federal Aviation Administratrion and the
State of Maine have agreed to provide the funding; and
WHEREAS, This project is included in the airports FAA approved five-year Capital Improvement Plan
(CIP); and
WHEREAS, due to a mathematical error In the previous request, additional funds are requested; and
WHEREAS, Federal funds will cover 90% of the cost of the project with an additional 5.0% coming from
the State of Maine and 5.0% from the Airport.

the City Manager or Airport Director is hereby authorized to accept the additional grant funds from the
Federal Aviation Administration and the Maine Department of Transportation in the amount of $78,851
under the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program, Grant # 59 rehabilitation of the subsurface drainage
system on the aircraft parking apron and the replacement and upgrade of the runway guard lights on
the airfield; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT
There is hereby appropriated within the Airport Fund the amount of $78,851 recognizing this federal
grant fund to be used for this project. The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to place this
amount within the appropriate accounts.
