HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-09-09 13-302 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13-302 Date: September 9, 2013 Item/Subject: Order, Rescinding Order 13-295 and Authorizing the City Staff to Proceed With the West Market Square Revitalization Project Responsible Department: Engineering Department Commentary: This Order would rescind Order 13-295 and authorize the City Staff to proceed with redevelopment of West Market Square. The first phase of a proposed series of projects intended to improve the utilities, pedestrian flow, safety, and aesthetics in the corridor between downtown and the City's Waterfront. If approved, the project proposes to replace the water and sewer lines, widen the sidewalk on Broad Street and include aesthetic work that would enhance connectivity to the Waterfront. The Budget for West Market Square Phase I is $975,000 which includes the following City funds: 2013 TIF Funds Budgeted $345,000 2014 TIF Funds Budgeted $255,000 2014 Sewer Funds Budgeted $200,000 Additional funds come from the Water District to pay for water infrastructure. This was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Business & Economic Development Committee at its August 19 and September 4, 2013 meeting.
