Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $91,480 in Grant Funds from the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide for the pre -
project engineering and design for the TSA in-line checked baggage inspection system solution at the
Bangor International Airport.

Commentary: The Airport is requesting authorization to accept and appropriate a grant in the
amount of $91,480 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) to provide for the pre -project engineering and design for the TSA in-line checked
baggage inspection system solution at the Bangor International Airport. This project involves the
engineering and design for modification to and construction of the airport terminal building
infrastructure to incorporate the TSA in-line checked baggage inspection system.Terminal modifications
include changes to baggage conveyor components, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural and
telecommunnciations infrastrusture to provide for the installation of the TSA equipment. The objective of
the project is to enhance airport security and baggage screening capabilities and throughput. Staff
recommends approval.

(TITLE.) Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $91,480 in Grant Funds from the U.S. Department of

International Airport.
WHEREAS, The City's application to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) for grant funds to provide for the TSA in-line checked baggage
inspection system solution at the Bangor International Airport has been accepted, and the
Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration has agreed to
provide the funds; and
WHEREAS, This project involves the engineering and design for modification to and construction of the
airport terminal building infrastructure to incorporate the TSA in-line checked baggage
inspection system.Terminal modifications include changes to to baggage conveyor
components, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural and telecommunnciations
infrastrusture to provide for the installation of the TSA equipment; and

KEIT RESOLVED BY THE C7TYCOMM OF THE CITY OFBANGO& THAT
The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security, Transportation Security Administration in the amount of $91,480 to provide for the pre -project
engineering and design for the TSA in-line checked baggage inspection system at the Bangor
International Airport; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT
There is hereby appropriated within the Airport Fund the amount of $91,480 recognizing these federal
grant funds to be used for this project. The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to place this
amount within the appropriate accounts.
