Responsible Department: Legal Commentary: This Order would authorize the City Manager to execute a quitclaim deed granting a portion of Gray Street, which was never accepted or built, to the nearest abutting property owners. In 1997, the State Legislature passed a law transferring rights to unaccepted and unbuilt rights- of-way to the abutters when the municipality determines that they no longer have an interest in the right of way. Engineering no longer has a use for this right of way. Therefore, based on State statute, the City proposes to vacate a__portion of the right of way from the center line to the property line to the owners at 30 Gray i`street , A similar, separate deed will grant the other half of this unaccepted portion of Gray Street to the abutting property on the other side of the unaccepted street.
