HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-04-22 13-135 ORDER_COUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13-135 Date: April 22, 2013 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Maine Department of Transportation for reimbursement for grant expenditures at Bangor International Airport Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: This Order will authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Maine DOT for reimbursement of grant expenditures. Under the Federal Airport Improvement Program, the City and state are each required to provide a 5% match on AIP grant expenditures at Airport. The airport receives grant funding from the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the State's share of costs under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP). This is a renewal of the cooperative -agreement that primary airports, such as Bangor International, have with the State to ensure expenditures for Federal AIP grants are made. This standard cooperative agreement stipulates the process for reimbursement from the State for their share of the FAA approved capital improvement projects at the airport. This agreement has been reviewed and approved by City Legal. ORDER, Authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Maine Department of Transportation for reimbursement for grant expenditures at Bangor International Airport. WHEREAS, The City of Bangor owns and operates the Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, Bangor International Airport and the Maine Department of Transportation are interested in renewing the cooperative agreement for the funding of aviation projects; and WHEREAS, Bangor International Airport receives grant funding from the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the State's share of costs under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP); and WHEREAS, This standard cooperative agreement stipulates the process for reimbursement from the State for their share of the FAA approved capital improvement projects at the airport; and WHEREAS, it would be advantageious to both parties to renew this agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, That The City Manager is authorized to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Maine Department of Transportation for reimbursement for grant expenditures at Bangor International Airport.
