HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-03-25 13-111 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13-111 Date: March 25, 2013 Item/Subject: Order, Ratifying City Staff Action to Apply for and Accept Funding, if Approved, from the United Way Neighbors Helping Neighbors 2013 Community Grant Project Responsible Department: Health and Community Services Commentary: The United Way Neighbors Helping Neighbors small grant program engages community groups and organizations, local governments, faith -based groups, and other non-profit groups to conduct and provide a variety of activities with the goal of helping to improve the lives of local citizens most in jeopardy to remain safe, warm and fed through the winter. A small pool of funds is available in the United Way of Eastern Maine 2013 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Small Grant Program. Requests for funding are limited to $3,050. The Department of Health and Community Services has applied for United Way funds in the amount of $3,050 for fuel assistance for individuals/families when no other option is available. Due to the short grant application timeframe, staff applied for the funding, and this Order will ratify the grant application, and will accept funding, if approved. BE IT ORDERED THAT: City staff action to apply for and accept funding, if approved, in the amount of $3,050.00 from the United Way of Eastern Maine Neighbors Helping Neighbors program providing fuel assistance for Bangor residents for whom no other option is available, is hereby ratified.
