Item No. 13-076
Date: February 11, 2013
Item/Subject: ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 295, Victualers, of the Code of the City of
Bangor, By Removing Outdated References to Health Inspections
Responsible Department: Clerk
Commentary: This ordinance amendment will remove an outdated reference to health
inspection certificates from the victualers license requirements in the Bangor City Code. In the
past, the City performed health inspections of Bangor restaurants prior to the issuance of a
victualers license. A recent change in State Statute resulted in health inspections being taken
over by the state, thereby removing those duties from the City. Additionally, the amendment
clarifies that the Fire Prevention Office is the office responsible for ensuring victualer adherence
to fire and life safety codes.
