Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: This Order, if approved, will authorize the execution of a lease between the City of Bangor and the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Police division. The State Police have outgrown their current headquarters and are in need of a new site located close to the interstate. After a review of space and location they have determined that they would like to lease the old FAA Flight Service Station, Building # 195 for their headquarters and Building # 92, for a garage and vehicle maintenance facility. Under the terms of this agreement the State would lease the building for a term of ten (10) years, with two (2) options for five year extensions. The terms and conditions of the lease shall include, but not be limited to, a term of ten years with an option for two five year renewals; provide for annual rent for Building 195 of $91,300 for years 1-5, $95,450 for years 6-10, $99,600 for the first renewal term, and $103,750 for the second renewal term; annual rent for Building 92 of $20,000 for years 1-5, $22,000 for years 6-10, $24,000 for the first renewal term, and $26,000 for the second renewal term, and shall require certain improvements to the property by the City. Lessee shall be responsible for utility costs. Anthony P. ORDER, Authorizing Execution of a Lease Between the City of Bangor and the Maine Department of Public Safety - Bangor International Airport. WHEREAS, the City of Bangor is the owner of an airport located in Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, commonly known as Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Police division desires to lease Buildings 92 and 195 located at Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, this leased space for Building 195 will be used exclusively to support the headquarters and office space for the Maine State Police; and WHEREAS, the additional leased space for Building 92 will be used exclusively to support a garage and maintenance facility for the Maine State Police. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, That Catherine M. Conlow, City Manager, is hereby authorized on behalf of the City of Bangor to execute a Lease Agreement with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Police division for the lease of property located at Bangor International Airport known as Building 195 for use as headquarters and office space for the Maine State Police and Building 92 for use as a garage and maintenance facility.
