HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-01-28 13-067 RESOLVECOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13_067 Date: January 28, 2013 Item/Subject: Resolve, Appropriating $500,000 from Airport Department reserves for the purpose of completing improvements to two buildings located at Bangor International Airport Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: This resolve will appropriate $500,000 from the Airport Reserve Fund to complete Improvements approved by a lease with the Department of Public Safety. On January 28, 2013 the City Council considered a 10 year lease with the Department of Public Safety for office and maintenance space at the Bangor International Airport. As part of the lease, the City agreed to make necessary Improvements in an amount not to exceed $500,000 to improve heating, ventilation, and make office improvements including adding closets, upgrading the restrooms and installing a shower, new paint and carpets and tile in the FSS building. Under the terms of the lease, annual revenues from this long term lease are estimated at over $110,000 which will cover the cost of the improvements. This was reveiwed and recommended for approval by the Airport Committee at the meeting of January 15t. Resolve, Appropriating $500,000 from Airport Department reserves for the purpose of completing improvements to two buildings located at Bangor International Airport WHEREAS, the City of Bangor, Maine is the owner of an airport located in Bangor, County of Penobscot, State of Maine, commonly known as Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Police division desires to lease Buildings 92 and 195 located at Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Police division requests improvements be made to both buildings prior to their leasing; and WHEREAS, The funds from the reserve account will be used to fund the requested improvements; and WHEREAS, Costs for the improvements will be recovered through the lease revenues. BE IT RESOL VED BY THE CITY COUNaL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, TNAT The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate funds, not to exceed $500,000 from airport department reserves for the purpose of completing improvements to two buildings located at Bangor International Airport that will be leased to the Maine Department of Public Safety; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to place these amounts within the appropriate accounts.
