Commentary:
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Department and the Bangor Police Department have received notification that
$22,792.00 is available through the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program. This grant requires that these
two agencies share the grant. The Bangor Police Department will be assessed a 5% fee for the Sheriff's
administration of the grant. The Bangor Police Department intends to use the $10,826.00 for the purpose of
purchasing law enforcement related equipment to enhance the capabilities of the patrol division and Special
Response Team. There is no match required.

ORDERED, THAT the application by the City Manager for $22,792.00 in funds from the
Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, of which $10,826.00 will be used by the Bangor
Police Department for the purchase of law enforcement related equipment to be utilized
by members of the patrol division and the Special Response Team, and $11,966.00 will
be awarded to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department as required by the grant, be
ratified
