HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-04-22 13-136 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 13-136 Date: April 22, 2013 Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Bangor Firefighters Association Local 772, IAFF, AFL-CIO Responsible Department: Executive Commentary: This Order authorizes the City Manager to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Bangor Firefighters Association Local 772. Negotiations between the City and Union have resulted in a Tentative Agreement that has been ratified by the Union. This Agreement follows the most recent contract that expired on June 30, 2012. The Agreement has been negotiated within bargaining guidelines established by the City Council and includes the following: a three year term; wage increases of 1.5% year one; 1.5% year two, and 2.0% year three; updated health insurance rate and corresponding date changes; agreement to close the most expensive health care plan effective January 1, 2015; adjustments to the outside detail rate structure for private services, adjustments to education incentive pay, revisions pertaining to EMS licensing requirements and other minor housekeeping changes. This agreement was reviewed in Executive Session with the Council on April 8`h and is presented with the recommendation of the Management Negotiating Committee. Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Bangor Firefighters Association Local 772, IAFF, AFL-CIO Be it Ordered by the Bangor City Council that the City Manager Is hereby authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Bangor Firefighters Association Local 772, IAFF, AFL- CIO representing certain employees at Bangor Fire Department for a term commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2015 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Tentative Agreement reached between the Negotiating Committees representing the City and the Union.
