Responsible Department: Public Health & Community Services Commentary: This resolve will accept and appropriate $100,000 from the University of New England to conduct an assessment and work on youth substance abuse prevention initiatives in the Penquis Public Health District, which covers Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. This voluntary program will also work to build capacity and implement a planning process to identify appropriate evidence -based best activities to implement within the Penquis Public Health District. Action plans will focus on policies, procedures, and strategies to reduce youth substance use. The term of the grant is November 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. This item was recommended for approval at the Government Operations Committee meeting on November 21, 2016. BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR: BE IT RESOLVED, that a grant in the amount of $100,000 grant from the University of New England to conduct an assessment of and work on youth substance abuse prevention initiatives in the Penquis Public Health District is hereby accepted and appropriated for the period November 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.
