Date:
Item/Subject ORDER, Authorizing Grant Application to the Environmental Protection
Agency, Brownfields Assessment Program
Responsible Department: Community & Economic Development
Commentary: This Order will authorize the City Manager to submit a grant application for up to
$200,000 to the Environmental Protection Agency, Brownfields program. If successful, the funds will be
used to voluntarily assess potentially contaminated sites. Testing of sites can spur future redevelopment
of underutilized properties and help project people and the environment from contamination. There is
no required cash match as a part of this application. The City will pledge to use staff time and its
partner's time as an in-kind match. If successful, the work would take place between October of 2017
and September of 2020. If awarded, this grant is a potential compliment to the City's existing
Brownfields program which began in 2014.
