BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026
School Committee Members Present: Chair Tim Surrette, Vice Chair Katie Brydon, Mallory Cook, Sara
Luciano, Shelly Okere, Ben Sprague, and Ben Speed.
A. 1. & 2. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Tim Surrette and the pledge of
allegiance followed.
B, Adjustments to the Agenda:
D. 1. a. Fairmount Reorganizational Plan—Table until 5/28/26 meeting
Motion: Luciano Second: Sprague Vote: 7-0
C. Public Comments:
Michael Norton from Bangor spoke regarding K-12 student learning.
Josh Bridges from Bangor spoke regarding the proposed closure of the Fairmount
School.
Megan Bridges from Bangor spoke regarding the available options for the upcoming
Fairmount closure.
Kevy Ellis from Bangor spoke about needing consistency for the students during the
time of Fairmount School closure.
Alexandra Hendrix from Bangor spoke regarding the communication surrounding the
upcoming relocation of Fairmount students/staff.
Michael Beck from Bangor praised and encouraged the Superintendent, School
Committee and Staff for the decisions being made and the work being put in to make
the best decision for the current situation.

Fairmount School.
Adam Baker from Bangor asked that we refrain from using AI in the school system.
A current fourth grade student at Fairmount advocated for the saving of the Fairmount
School.
Alec Anderson from Bangor spoke regarding the communication and planning process
for the upcoming Fairmount relocation.
Kelly Strout from Bangor spoke regarding the Fairmount relocation.

Christina Murphy from Bangor asked for transparency, data and time regarding the
upcoming Fairmount relocation.
Megan Anderson from Bangor spoke regarding the Fairmount situation and
recommended that all information be shared with families.
Jody MacDonald from Bangor spoke regarding the potential for consolidation of
schools.
D. 2. a. CEO Catherine Myatt presented information regarding the Boys and Girls Club of
Bangor.
b. Superintendent Robinson provided a district update to the committee
c. Superintendent Robinson reported the following reassignment for the 26-27 school
year:
Barbara Clewley from Grade 1 Teacher at Downeast School to Grade 2 Teacher at
Downeast School.
Garrett Johnson from Physical Education Teacher at Fruit Street School to Physical
Education Teacher at Bangor High School.
Jenna Caler from Art Teacher at Fairmount and 14th Street Schools to Art Teacher at
Bangor High School.
Renee Perron from Social Worker at (.8) William S. Cohen School and (.2) Mary
Snow School to Social Worker at William S. Cohen School.
d. Superintendent Robinson reported the following resignations for the 26-27 school
year:
Jacob Clark Grade 1 Teacher Vine Street School
Marie Glidden Occupational Therapist Districtwide
Annemarie Roberts Special Education Teacher William S. Cohen School
Robert Young Assistant Girls Soccer Coach Bangor High School
Jason Smith JV Boys Basketball Coach Bangor High School
Donald Erb JV Girls Basketball Coach Bangor High School
E. 1. a. 1. Recommendation to approve the draft Minutes of the April 29, 2026 Regular School
Committee Meeting.
Motion: Brydon Second: Sprague Vote: 7-0
b. 1. Recommendation to approve the Bids and Quotation Report for May 2026.
Motion: Sprague Second: Brydon Vote: 7-0
c. 1. Recommendation to approve the following administrator nomination for the 2026-
2027 School Year, with a one-year probationary contract.

c.2. a. Recommendation to approve the following teacher nomination for the 2026-2027
School Year with a one year probationary contract.

d. Committee Member Ben Sprague shared the following donations:
To James F. Doughty School from the DMT Fund, a cash donation to support students,
having a total dollar value of$200.

e. Recommendation to approve the second reading of the following revised policies:
1. Revised Policy IGD—Co-Curricular and Interscholastic Programs
2. Revised Policy IGDH—Academic Contests for Students
3. Revised Policy IHBEA—Program for Multilingual Learners

E. 2. a. 1-10.Recommendation to approve the First Reading of the following new and revised
policies:
1. New Policy BID— School Committee Member Compensation and Expenses

4. Revised Policy GDB 7— Support Staff Compensation Guide
