HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-12-10 School Committee Minutes MINUTES BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2025 School Committee Members Present: Chair Tim Surrette, Vice Chair Katie Brydon, Mallory Cook, Shelly Okere, Ben Sprague, and Ben Speed. Member Sara Luciano was excused. A. 1. & 2. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Tim Surrette and the pledge of allegiance followed. 3. The Bangor School Department and the Bangor School Committee recognized the 2025 Girls Soccer team for their recent Class A State Championship. B. Adjustments to the Agenda: No adjustments to the agenda. C. Public Comments: Michael Norton of Bangor spoke about his hope for a Children's Hospital in Bangor. D. 2. a. Superintendent Robinson presented the Bangor School Department Annual Report. b. Superintendent Robinson provided a district update to the committee. E. 1. a. 1. Recommendation to approve the Minutes of the November 10, 2025 Reorganizational School Committee Meeting. Motion: Brydon Second: Sprague Vote: 6-0 2. Recommendation to approve the minutes of the November 13, 2025 Regular School Committee Meeting. Motion: Brydon Second: Okere Vote: 6-0 b. 1. Recommendation to approve the September Financial Report. Motion: Brydon Second: Sprague Vote: 6-0 2. Recommendation to approve the October Financial Report. Motion: Brydon Second: Sprague Vote: 6-0 c. 1. Recommendation to approve the following teacher nomination for the 2025-2026 school year, with a one-year probationary contract. To the Bangor School Department from Mallory Cook's Campaign Fund, a cash donation to support students, having a total dollar value of$322.02. Motion: Sprague Second: Brydon Vote: 5-0, 1 Abstain F. 3, New student Member Meghna Vijay provided an update on the start of winter activities at Bangor High School. Vice Chair Brydon gave appreciation for all of the community donations to our schools and students as well as a thank you to Director Carver Bialer for her effort in organizing the Shop at School event. Vice Chair Brydon proposed that we continue the process to invite new teachers to meet the committee and be introduced when they are up for approval. Member Sprague praised the Bangor JROTC and Band for a great Pearl Harbor Day Celebration. Member Sprague also welcomed new members Cook, Speed and Vijay. Member Cook expressed gratitude to staff for the recent parent/teacher conferences. Member Speed congratulated the girl's soccer team and coaches and wished luck for the new teams starting their winter seasons. L 1. Important dates were reviewed by Chair Tim Surrette. J.
