HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-11-10 School Committee Minutes MINUTES BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING 11:00 a.m., Monday,November 10, 2025 School Committee Members Present: Timothy Surrette, Katie Brydon, Ben Sprague, Shelly Okere, Sara Luciano, Mallory Cook and Ben Speed The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Superintendent Robinson and the pledge of allegiance followed. A. City Clerk, Lisa Goodwin, administered the Oath of Office, swearing in new School Committee Members Mallory Cook, and Ben Speed. B. 1. Recommendation to appoint Tim Surrette as School Committee Chair for 2025-2026. Motion: Luciano Second: Sprague Vote: 7-0 via roll call 2. Recommendation to appoint Katie Brydon as School Committee Vice-Chair for 2025- 2026. Motion: Luciano Second: Sprague Vote: 7-0 via roll call C. Chair Tim Surrette read the Code of Ethics all School Committee Members are to follow. D. 1. Recommendation to appoint Building Principals as Attendance Officers. Motion: Luciano Second: Brydon Vote: 7-0 via roll call 2. Recommendation to appoint Dana Carver-Bialer as the Affirmative Action Officer. Motion: Luciano Second: Brydon Vote: 7-0 via roll call 3. Recommendation to appoint Dana Carver-Bialer as Title IX Coordinator. Motion: Luciano Second: Surrette Vote: 7-0 via roll call 4. Recommendation to appoint Dan Chadbourne as the Wellness Committee Chair. Motion: Luciano Second: Sprague Vote: 7-0 via roll call 5-8. Designated Committee Officers as follows: United Technology Center: Katie Brydon Mallory Cook Ben Speed Belonging Advisory Committee: Katie Brydon Shelly Okere Minutes, Organizational Meeting,November 10, 2025 2• Negotiations Subcommittee: Sara Luciano Ben Sprague Dropout Prevention: Mallory Cook Sara Luciano Policy Committee: Katie Brydon Shelly Okere 9. All School Committee Members were directed to read the Finance Committee Rotation list included in the provided packet. 10. Recommendation to appoint Brendan Miller, CNP, and Dr. Amy Barrett, Medical Director, to be the Bangor School Department physician(s) of record. They both practice out of Penobscot Community Health Center. The School Nurses will be able to contact them on an as needed basis to review procedures and to provide guidance. Motion: Luciano Second: Brydon Vote: 7-0 via roll call 12. Recommendation to appoint the legal services of Drummond Woodsum, with Tom Trenholm serving as General Legal Counsel and Chief Negotiator for the Bangor School Department. Motion: Brydon Second: Luciano Vote: 7-0 via roll call E.
