Authorizing the City Engineer to Discontinue a Portion of Miller Street
Summary
This Order would authorize the City Engineer to go through the process of discontinuing a portion of
Miller Street right of way that is located on the west side of Hildreth Street.
Miller Street right of way is 80 feet wide and extends for about 807 feet southwesterly from Hildreth
Street. Miller Street was accepted by the City of Bangor in May of 1947.
The Engineering Department proposes that the City discontinue the right of way on a portion of
Miller Street as described above and shown on Exhibit A. The total area of right of way to be
discontinued is about 23,958 square feet ( 0.55 acre +) for a distance of 807 +/- feet.
This item was reviewed and recommended for approval at the Infrastructure meeting on August 18,
2025.

Authorizing the City Engineer to Discontinue a Portion of Miller Street
WHEREAS, Miller Street was accepted on May 26, 1947; and
WHEREAS, Miller Street right of way is 80 feet wide and extends for about 807 feet west from Hildreth Street
to Hermon town line; and
WHEREAS, the total area of right of way to be discontinued is about 23,958 square feet ( 0.55 acre +) for a
distance of 807 +/- feet; and
WHEREAS, said portion of Miller Street are no longer necessary to serve the public as a Right-Of-Way.
Now Therefore, Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Engineer is hereby
authorized and directed to begin the process of discontinuing a portion of Miller Street Extension as shown in
"Exhibit A" in accordance with the provisions of 23 M.R.S.A. § 3026-A and to submit a written report to the
City Council for further action.
Be it further ordered that, pursuant to 23 M.R.S.A. § 3026-A, the the attached "order of discontinuance" be
filed with the City Clerk pending future action of this Council.
