HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-08-13 School Committee Minutes MINUTES BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025 School Committee Members Present: Chair Sara Luciano, Vice Chair Tim Surrette, Katie Brydon, Shelly Okere, Imke Schessler-Jandreau, Members Marwa Hassanien, and Ben Sprague were excused. An executive session was held from 6:15 p.m. until 6:55 p.m. in the Bangor High School Library, and via zoom, for the purpose of Evaluation of the Superintendent 1 M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(A). A. 1. & 2. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Sara Luciano and the pledge of allegiance followed. B. Adjustments to the Agenda: C. Public Comments; No Public Comments D. 1. a. Superintendent Robinson recommended approval of the 2025-2028 Administrator Negotiated Contract. Motion: Okere Second: Surrette Vote: 5-0 b. The Bangor School Committee nominated Chair Luciano as the local delegate and Member Okere as alternate to the MSBA Annual Delegate Assembly scheduled for October 18, 2025. Motion: Surrette Second: Jandrea Vote: 5-0 c. Chair Luciano recommended approval of the Superintendent Contract with changes as discussed. Motion: Bryden Second: Jandreau Vote: 5-0 D. 2. a. Director of Community Outreach Ray Phinney provided an update on our Campaign of Belonging. b. Superintendent Robinson provided a district update to the committee. c. Superintendent Robinson reported the following reassignments for the school year 2025-2026. Kristy McClure from Title I Teacher at (.57) Abraham Lincoln School and (.43) at Bangor Christian School to Title I Teacher (.8) Abraham Lincoln School and (.2) Bangor Christian School. Meghan Schall from Literacy Coach at (.22) 14th St School, (.22) Fruit Street School, (.22) Abraham Lincoln School, (.22) Mary Snow School and (.12) Bangor Regional Program to Literacy Coach at (.6) Fruit Street School and (.4) Abraham Lincoln School. Shelly Morin from Literacy Coach at Fairmount School to Literacy Coach at (.5) Fairmount School and (.5) Mary Snow School. Rachael Rowland from Title I Teacher at Fairmount School to Title I Teacher at (.6) Fairmount School and (.4) Vine Street School. Shana Curtis from Literacy Coach at Vine Street School to Literacy Coach at (.6) Vine Street School and (.4) 14t�' Street School. Angela Lundy from Resource Room Teacher at (.9) Mary Snow School and (.1) William S. Cohen School to Resource Room Teacher at Mary Snow School. d. Superintendent Robinson reported the following resignations for the school year 2025- 2026. Kobe Rogerson Assistant Golf Coach Bangor High School E. 1. a. l. Recommendation to approve the Minutes of the July 16, 2025 Regulax School Committee Meeting. Motion: Jandreau Second: Okere Vote: 5-0 b. 1. Recommendation to approve the August Bids and Quotations Report. Motion: Brydon Second: Surrette Vote: 5-0 c. 1. a. Superintendent Robinson recommended the following teacher nominations for the 2025-2026 school year, with a one-year Probationary Contract. Lynn Rush Special Education ELA Teacher Bangor High School Walter Stanley Grade 4 Teacher (1 year position) Fairmount School Michelle Dunning School Nurse Fruit/Abe Lincoln/14th St Maynard Walton History Bangor High School Heidi Fairbrother Special Education Teacher Mary Snow School Motion: Jandreau Second: Brydon Vote: 5-0 2. Superintendent Robinson recommended the following extra-duty assignments: Eric Steadman (.7) Math Team Asst Coach Bangor High School Ryan Nickerson (.1) Math Team Asst Coach Bangor High School Jonathan Dearing (.1) Math Team Asst Coach Bangor High School Patti Craig (.1) Math Team Asst Coach Bangor High School Motion: Jandreau Second: Surrette Vote: 5-0 Minutes, Regular Meeting,August 13, 2025 3• d. Superintendent Robinson recommended approval of Second Reading of Revised Policies: 1. Revised Policy JLCD—Administering Medications to Students in School Motion: Jandreau Second: Brydon Vote: 5-0 E. 2. a. 1. Recommendation to approve the first reading of the following revised policy: 1. Revised Policy GDB-7—Support Staff Compensation Guide 2. Revised Policy GDB-9— Supplemental Compensation Guide Motion: Jandreau Second: Brydon Vote: 5-0 H. Member Jandreau gave a job well done to the 21St Century staff providing the summer camp at Fairmount School. Member Member Surrette commented on the upcoming on-line pathway pilot expressing concern if the program opens up to a more broad application range. L 1.
