BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024
School Committee Members Present: Chair Marwa Hassanien, Vice Chair Sara Luciano, Katie Brydon, Imke
Schessler-Jandreau, Ben Sprague, and Tim Surrette. Member Sl�elly Okere attended via zoom.
A. 1. & 2. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Marwa Hassanien and the pledge
of allegiance followed.
B. Adjustments to the Agenda:
E. b. 1. a. Teacher Nomination
VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to approve the adjustment to the agenda.
C. Public Comments:
No Public Comments.
D. 2. a. The Bangor Garden Committee shared their experience working with the Bangar
PreK-3 schools and expressed interest in growing the gardening program throughout
the district.
b. Principals Shannon Shaw and Sarah Vickers provided the committee with an update
on PBIS.
c. Superintendent Robinson provided a district update to the committee.
d. Superintendent Robinson reported the following reassignments for school year 2024-
2025:
Felancy Grant from Special Education Teacher, (.5) Project Transition and (.5)
Multiple Handicap Regional Program at Bangor High School to Special Education
Teacher, Project Transition at Bangor High School.
Tracy Reardon from Special Education Teacher (.5) Self-Contained Classroom and
(.5) Multiple Handicap Regional Program at Mary Snow School to Special Education
Teacher, Self-Contained Classroom at Mary Snow School.
e. Superintendent Robinson reported the following resignations for school year 2024-
2025:
Kelly Hasselbrack (.25) IEP Coordinator Bangor High School
Robert Young Boys JV Basketball Coach Bangor High School
Kobe Rogerson Boys Freshman BB Coach Bangor High School
f. Superintendent Robinson reported the following teacher retirement:
Tammy Cormier Grade 6 Teacher William S. Cohen School

b. 1. a. VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to approve the following teacher nominations for the
2024-2025 school year, with a one-year probationary contract:
Isaac Bushway Grade 6 Teacher William S. Cohen School
2. VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to approve the following Extra Duty Assignments for
2024-2025:
Jaime Jarvis (.5)National Honor Society Bangor High School
Jane Venturelli (.5)National Honor Society Bangor High School
c, Committee Member Tim Surrette shared the following donations:
To Downeast School from Realty of Maine, a cash donation to support students,
having a total dollar value of$100.
To 14th Street School from Machias Savings Bank, a cash donation to support
students, having a total dolar value of$250.
To Abraham Lincoln School from the Bangor Elks Lodge, dictionaries for all grade 3
students, having a total dollar value of$150.
To Fairmount School from Tricorp Federal Credit Union — Campaign for Ending
Hunger, a cash donation for the backpack program, having a dollar value of$1,053.
To Downeast School from the Bangor Elks Lodge, dictionaries for all grade 3
students, having a total dollar value of$350.
VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to approve all donations.
F. 1. Member Brydon thanked Mrs Cormier for her dedication to Bangor students and
welcomed Mr Bushway.
F. 3. b, Member Brydon mentioned a bond to support a 1.8 million dollar equipment

4. Member Crespo gave an update on current happenings at Bangor High School
including homecoming activities.
H. 1. Important dates were reviewed by Chair Marwa Hassanien.
I. VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to move into executive session for the purpose of
discussion on the Teacher and Educational Technician Labor Contracts pursuant to 1
M.R.S.A �405(6)(D) at 8:17p.m.
K. VOTED 7-0 by roll call vote to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m.
