MEETING OF JUNE 13, 2024, 7:00 P.M.

Chair Chernesky called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
New Business:
1. To review an amendment of the City of Bangor Historic Preservation Code,
Chapter 148, by Including the Hasey's Maine Stages Building as a Historic
Landmark.
Chair Chernesky introduced the agenda item.
Applicant Loren Coleman, International Cryptozoology Museum, presented to the Commission and gave
an overview of the building renovations and recent national historic designation.
Chair Chernesky asked about the change in the planned exterior color change. Coleman confirmed the
newly planned color scheme.
Consultant Mike Pullen mentioned that tonight's agenda item consists of reviewing the standards in
Chapter 148 and determining which apply to the proposed amendment. Commissioners requested that
Pullen read off the standards and they will deliberate on them individually— Pullen did so. Planning
Officer Anja Collette added that Commissioners should introduce a motion on which standards they
determine to be applicable.

Alternate Member Weitkamp stated his opinion that standards A, D, and F apply to this amendment.
Member Krupke added that she felt standard C would also apply. Alternate Member Keebler echoed
Krupke's opinion. Members Quin and King expressed agreement with the applicability of standards A, C,
D, and F. Coleman brought up the standards deemed applicable for the property's national historic
designation.
Commissioners discussed the verbiage of the motion to be introduced. Chair Chernesky read the
Council Order for the proposed amendment. Planning Officer Collette mentioned the procedure for
Planning Board motions and made a suggestion on how this motion should be introduced.
Alternate Member Weitkamp moved that the Commission finds that the proposed amendment meets
standards A, C, D, and F under Chapter 148, seconded by Member Quin. Roll call vote conducted — all
in favor, none opposed. Motion passed.
Planning Officer Collette asked the Commission if any members have feedback on the report submitted
to City Council —there was none.
Member Krupke moved that the Commission recommend that the amendment of the City of Bangor
Historic Preservation Code, Chapter 148, to include the Hasey's Maine Stages building as a historic
landmark ought to pass. Seconded by Member Quin. Roll call vote conducted —all in favor, none
opposed. Motion passed.
Other Business:
2. Presentation on Results of Banqor Architectural Survev — Phase III
Chair Chernesky introduced the agenda item.
Consultant Pullen presented a slideshow presentation to the Commission on the results of Phase III of
the Bangor Architectural Survey.
Open discussion amongst Commissioners and Consultant Pullen.

Alternate Member Weitkamp moved to approve the May 9th meeting minutes. Member Krupke
seconded. Roll call vote conducted —all voting members in favor, none opposed.
