In attendance:Chair Carin Sychterz,Vice Chair Marwa Hassanien,Clare Mundell,Susan Sorg,
and Timothy Surrette.
Meeting opened at 5:38 p.m.by Chair Sychterz in City Hall Council Chambers.
At 5:39 p.m.the School Committee VOTED 5-0 to move into Executive Session for the purpose
of discussion of a consulting with the Attorney pursuant to §IM.R.S.A.405(6XE).
Returned to public meeting at 7:03 p.m.and VOTED 5-0 to adjourn.

A.1.&2.The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m.by Chair Sychterz and the Pledge of
Allegiance followed.
A 3.The Bangor School Department and the Bangor School Committee recognized
National History Day winners Kathryn Busko,Anika Nowak,and Genevieve
Sychtcrz.
The Bangor School Department and the Bangor School Committee recognized
2021 Maine State Science Fair winners Meaghan Caron,Ogechi Obi.and Vetri
Vel.
The Bangor School Department and the Bangor School Committee recognized the
2021 Stockholm Junior Water Prize State Winner,Ginny Hunt.
C.Public Comment
Susan Bennett-Arrnistead of 22 Summit Avenue shared how pleased she was with
the educational program provided to her children.
D.Interim Superintendent Harris-Smedberg reported the following reassignments for
the 202 1-2022 school year:
Erin McCullough from School Counselor at (.6)Fruit Street School and (.4)
Abraham Lincoln School to School Counselor at (.8)Mary Snow School and (.2)
Abraham Lincoln School.
Megan Mahoney from Grade 5 Teacher at Mary Snow School to Grade I Teacher
at 14111 Street School.
Megan Grandits-Griffin from Kindergarten Teacher at Downeast School to Grade
5 Teacher at Mary Snow School.
Laurie-Ann McSorley from Grade 2 Teacher at Downcast School to Grade 3
Teacher at Abraham Lincoln School.
Caroline Seguin from Grade I Teacher at Downcast School to Grade 2 Teacher at
Downcast School.
Ruth Clark from Grade 5 Teacher at Fairmount School to Grade 6 Teacher at
William 5.Cohen School.
Lindsay Savage from Grade 2 Remote Teacher for the Bangor School
Department to Grade 3 Teacher at Fourteenth Street School.
Suzanne Whitmore from Self-Contained Teacher at Mary Snow School to
Resource Room Teacher at Vine Street School.
Annemarie Roberts from Self-Contained Teacher at Fourteenth Street School to
Self-Contained Teacher at Mary Snow School.
D.2.Interim Superintendent Hanis-Smedbcrg reported the following resignation:

E.I.Interim Superintendent Harris-Smedberg recommended the School Committee
approve the Draft Minutes of the May 12,2021 Regular School Committee
Meeting.
VOTED 6-0 by roll call to approve thc Draft Minutes of the May 12,2021
Regular School Committee.
E.I .b.l.a.Interim Superintendent Harris-Srnedberg recommended the School Committee
approve the following administrator nomination for the 202 1-2022 school year,
with a one-year Probationary Contract:
Shannon Shaw Principal Abraham Lincoln School
VOTED 6-0 by roll call to approve Shannon Shaw as the Abraham Lincoln
School Principal for the 202 1-2022 school year,with a one-year Probationary
Contract.
E.I .b.I .b.Interim Superintendent I-Iarris-Smedberg recommended the School Committee
approve the following teacher nomination(s)for the 2021-2022 school year,
with a one-year Probationary Contract:
Karlee Price SpeechlLanguage Therapist (.2)MI-I/8)Bangor High School
VOTED 6-0 by roll call to approve the teachcr nomination(s)for the
202 1-2022 school year,with a one-year Probationary Contract.
E.2.VOTED 5-0 by roll call to accept the following donations with great
thanks:
To 14th Street School from Lee Management Company,a cash donation to
bcnetit students,having a total dollar value of $250.
F.Committee Updates
Comments and Questions from the Committee
Member Sorg asked about the continued wearing of masks and safety
procedures in the schools.Interim Superintendent Harris-Smedberg provided
an update.
Member Hassanien also asked about health practices,masking,and keeping
students and staff safe.Interim Superintendent Harris-Smedberg provided an
update.
Mundell asked about the BEtS Health Clinic grant proposal.Principal Butler
provided an update.
Member Hiatt asked about the ARP grant and where we were in the process.
Interim Superintendent F-Iarris-Smedberg provided an update.
Member Hiatt asked who would take his place on subcommittees,as he
resigned from SPRPCE and UTC.Chair Sychterz shared that Member Mundell
vi1l become the primary representative to SPRPCE with Member Surretle
being the alternate.As UTC has two members.there will be no replacement.
Member Surrette asked about the RFK proposal.Interim Superintendent Harris
Srnedberg and Principal Butler provided an update.
