O'Donnell, C. Conlow, D. Laurie,T. Willette, J.Theriault The meeting was called to order by Chair Sarah Nichols at 5:34pm. 1) Community Connector Overview & Discussion Assistant City Manager O'Donnell and City Engineer Theriault provided an update on the transit center and discussed the reasons why the bids for the construction of the building came in much higher than expected. Reasons included labor shortage, unknown market condition (project will take a year or so), material shortage, and more. Staff informed the committee that staff was looking into additional ways to fund the extra cost and it would come back before a future committee meeting. No action was taken. 2) Skate Park Discussion This item was a last-minute addition to the agenda by Chair Nichols at the request of a local citizens. Parks & Recreation Director Willette provided an overview of a recent request for the City to fully fund all phases of the skatepark. Citizen Andrew Lohman spoke on behalf of the fundraising committee asking the City Council to pay the remaining costs of the park so that the company can fully complete the project while they are already on-site. To date, $45,000 has been fundraised toward the skatepark. The City has already committed $125,000, with an additional $50,000 needed to finish the last phase. There was extensive discussion on this topic. The citizens who raised the money were complemented and thanked for their efforts. It was decided staff would look further into the matter and come back with options for a future pre-council meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 6:03pm.
