BANGOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
7:00 p.m..Wednesday,April 13,2022
School Committee Members present:Chair Marwa Hassamen,Vice Chair Tmmthy Surrette,Clare
Mundell,Sue Sorg,Carin Sychterz,Ben Sprague,Member Sara Luciano was unable to attend
A.1.&2.The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.by Chair Hassanien and the pledge
of allegiance followed.
B.Adjustments to the Agenda:
No adjustments to the agenda.
C.Public Comments:
No public comments.
D.2.a.Principal Lymi Silk and Pre-K teacher Emily Robinson updated the Committee on
the full day Pre-K program at Vine Street School.
b.Principal Paul Butler and English Teacher Stephanie Hendrix presented to the
committee plans to have students travel to Peru during the 22-23 school year.
E.1 .a.I.VOTED 6-0 by roll call vote to approve the Minutes of the March 30,2022
Regular School Committee Meeting.
b.1.Member Surrette shared the following donation with the group:
To the James F.Doughty School from Stacey Powell,a cash donation to support
students,having a total dollar value of $400.
VOTED 6-0 by roll call vote to approve the donation from Stacey Powell.
F.1.Member Carolyne Sauda announced the collection for Sunflowers for Peace
totaled $3300.
Member Clare Mundell asked for an update on the drama position.
Member Ben Sprague commended Principal Dan Chadbourne for recently earning
his doctorate.
Chair Hassanien and Superintendent Tager commented on the DEl Committee
and are encouraging community members to attend the May I 1 meeting which
will feature the DEl report.

•May j1th meeting will include feedback from the following four sub
committees:1)Curriculum 2)Mentoring and Community engagement 3)
Equity audit/Survey analysis 4)Diverse recruitment and Hiring strategies.
•Committee:Inclusive,Diverse,Community Leaders,University Experts,
Students,Parents,Faculty,Staff

•Priority:Hear feedback,Recommendations,Move the work forward is the
priority.DEl is not easy but of paramount importance.
Chair Hassanien asked Principal Butler for Senior Student activity information.
Member Sunette asked for an update on the pooled testing.
H.1.Important dates were reviewed by Chair Hassanien.
