Currently the Commission has 12 regular members. Three must own property in the Penjajawoc Marsh/Bangor Mall area, three must operate a business or have a commercial development interest in the area, three must be members of the Bangor Land Trust, and three must be active members of locally or nationally recognized environmental organizations. In recent years, it has been challenging to find interested applicants that fit these specific requirements. This amendment will change the makeup of the board to be seven at -large members. It is anticipated that this commission will continue to evolve as part of the comprehensive plan update. This item was reviewed and unanimously recommended for approval by the Government Operations Committee on April 19, 2023. Three members must own land in the Penjajawoc Marsh/Bangor Mall area, three must operate a business or have commercial interest in the area, three must be members of the Bangor Land Trust, and three must be active members of environmental organizations; WHEREAS, it has been difficult filing the positions with qualified applicants; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR AS FOLLOWS, THAT Chapter 23 of the Code of the City of Bangor is amended as follows: § 23-24 Establishment; membership.
