HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-11-07 Airport Committee Minutes City of Bangor Airport Committee November 7, 2022 Meeting Minutes The following City Councilors attended: Susan Hawes, Joseph Leonard, Gretchen Schaefer, Jonathan Sprague, Dan Tremble, and Dina Yacoubagha. Also in attendance were Airport Director Tony Caruso and Marketing and Business Development Manager Aimee Thibodeau. A�enda and Discussion: 1. Contract with Elite Terminal Services - Passen�er Boardin�Bridge (PBB) re�airs for international �ate #8 for $48,196 Director Caruso shared that last October the Airport was granted permission to contract with Aero Bridge specialists for repairs to Gate 4 and Gate 8 at the airport; after repeated requests to Aero Bridge, they did not perform the services. At this time the Director requests to contract for service with Elite Terminal Services for repairs to Gate 8; some Gate 4 repairs were able to be completed by airport staf£ Gate 8 is the International gate. Further, Director Caruso requests to terminate the contract with Aero Bridge and go with Elite Terminal Services for the repairs. Motion made, seconded, and approved. 2. Execute a contract for desi�n and en in� eerin� services with Gensler for $200,000 to�re�are the bid s�ecifications for the terminal im�rovement- connector�roject In conjunction with the Airport Master Plan, Director Caruso requests to contract with Gensler for up to $200,000 to prepare bid specs for Phase 1. The connector portion in Phase 1 entails added gate space and electrical. Motion made, seconded, and approved. 3. To a�lv for a�rant of u� to $2,000,000 from the Environmental Protection A�ency (EPA� for the cleanu� of Buildin #� 610 (commonly referred to as the Alert Building� Director Caruso requests to apply for a grant with the EPA for the cleanup and rehabilitation of the area of and around Building #610. The building was built in the early 1950s and poses a wildlife hazard and hazmat concerns. Motion made, seconded, and approved. 4. Air�ort Advertisin� & Marketing U�date: a. Air�ort Statistics re�ort Marketing and Business Development Manager Aimee Thibodeau expanded on the requested information relative to load factors; flight capacity vs. actual monthly passenger totaL The load factors are where they should be as reported for August and September 2022. In the area of Operations, our numbers are healthy and we continue to trend ahead of revenue projections for fuel at week 15 of 52 we were 30% above projected revenues. Schools and other groups continue to send tours. We recently hosted a group from Living Innovations and have other school groups scheduled through the end of the calendar year. b. Trade show/event re�ort(FBO O�en House, AAAE, NBAA, A/TA—u�comin� car�o in Miami, SDC) In recent weeks we have been traveling: Tony was in Miami, FL, Aimee was in Orlando, FL along with 3 co-workers; 2 people were in Denver, CO seeking educational opportunities, retaining business, and networking. NBAA is the largest aviation show in the Northeast with over 7,000 people in attendance for a 3-day exhibit. NBAA was the public launch for Marketing the logo. c. Marketin�Plan U�date Tracking the numbers —Social media: Facebook has the largest reach; the number of followers is increasing including internationally. 3Q review—3 platforms: Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
