ITEM#4— Downtown Parking Issues
Employees from Northeast Occupational Exchange (NOE) located at 29 Franklin
Street, Bangor presented their request to the Committee to have the 2-hour parking in
, front of their business changed to 4-hour paxking. The NOE employees stated the reason
for this request stems from the nature of their work which necessitates they have ready
access to their cars. Staff's position is that the time limit for these parking spaces be a
maximum of 2 hours to ensure turn over of the spaces. Councilor Rohman reviewed the
problem that would occur if four hour parking were allowed which would be that office
workers would end up parking on street all day. Councilor Aube asked that an
explanation from NOE's Board of Directors and Administration be made available as to
what they had envisioned for parking for their employees when they selected this
location. Councilor Baldacci requested that City staff make contact with NOE to further
discuss this issue.
Meeting adjourned at approximately 6:30 PM.
