ADMINISTRATION CONFERENCE ROOM WEDNESDAY, MAY 26, 1999 AT NOON Present: John Rohman, Acting Chair Michael Aube, Member 7udy Vardamis, Member Gerry Palmer, Member Edward Barrett, City Manager Bob Ziegelaar, Airport Director 7effRussell, Airport Marketing Mgr. The meeting was opened by John Rohman, Acting Chair at 12:10 PM. Items were discussed in order, as published. Item#1 - Lease Amendment—Business Express Airlines' Hangar. The Airport Director briefed the Committee about the proposed increase in space leased to Business Express under the company's current hangar lease. The Committee voted to approve the increase without debate. Item#2—Discussion of proposed Airport Flight Training and Engine Testing Policy. � The Airport Director presented the Committee with an outline of the Airport's current policy regarding aircraft noise. He further explained that this policy was currently in effect but had not been formally adopted by City Government. Mr. Barrett stated that he would investigate whether or not the policy could be formally adopted by Committee action alone. The Committee voted unanimously to adopt the current policy for the time being. Item#3 —Airport Catering. The Airport Director briefed the Committee about a pending sale of the current Airport Coffee Shop and Lounge operation to the current Airport Catering concessionaire (inflight). He added that he believed the change to be positive for the airport as it would stabilize the economic condition for both operations and would improve efficiency. Mr. Ziegelaar stated that he expected to present the Committee with a formal request for a lease amendment during the next Committee meeting. No vote was taken. Note: The lease amendment was subsequently authorized by the Finance Committee, on June 7, 1999. Item#4 - Domestic Airline Services. The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing ongoing airport marketing activities related to attracting new domestic flights to Bangor. JeffRussell outlined the specifics regarding a proposal to commence flights to Washington, D.C. The Airport Director asked the Committee to approve outlays of$7500 for contract research undertaken by the airport's Washington based contractor and $11,000 for a study to be undertaken by Stafford Business Advisors to determine airport traffic losses • to Portland Manchester. The Committee endorsed both undertakings. The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 PM.
