Director Jim Ring, City Engineer Peter D'Errico, Economic Development Director Ron Heller, Finance Director Norm Heitmann, Asst. City Solicitor Jack McClay, Bass Park Joe Barter, City of Bangor OTHERS PRESENT: Gerry Palmer,Blue Ox Joe Knox, WQCB-FM Charles A. Helfen,Bangor Resident Charles Birkel, Bangor Resident Bob Cimbollek, Bangor Resident Peter Webb,Bangor Resident Gary Bulduc, Bangor Resident Martha& Royce Day, Bangor Residents Fred Vardamis, Bangor Resident Roxanne Saucier, Bangor Daily News The meeting was called to order by Chair, Councilor Tyler at 4:00 PM. . The discussion focused on Capital Costs -Financial Sources. Rod McKay reviewed for Committee various means of raising money for the stadium facility such as issuing bonds to seeking in-kind contributions. Other suggestions offered were to consider raising funds t .. ; 2/ � by creating a non-profit corporation which could accept financial contributions from individuals siting that libraries and recreational facilities often sell bricks, boards or other components to promote interest in their campa.ign. Tom Palmer of Lafayette Hotels spoke to the Committee stating that they (Lafayette Hotels)would support a skybox in the proposed facility at a cost of up to $50,000. Further discussion took place again on possible temporary sites for the Blue Ox for their next season. Councilor Tyler stated that Mansfield Stadium would not be available as Stephen King had replied to Tyler's letter stating that he was not interested in the field being used for the Blue Ox next season. Other sites discussed again were the harness racing track- construct a temporary playing surface at a cost of$65,000-$85,000; Mahaney Diamond in Orono again for a brief stay of 10 games on a per-game basis per Dean Gyorgy of the Blue Ox. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 PM. The next and final meeting of the Stadium Committee will be held on Wednesday, October 1 at 4:00 PM. � � •
