City Solicitor Dale Theriault, Director of Parks and Recreation James Ring, City Engineer Ron Heller,Finance Director OTHERS PRESENT: Josh Gordon, Bangor Blue Ox Sean, Bangor Blue Ox Michael Dyer, Director of Bass Park Mark Roth,Bangor Resident Tom Palmer, Lafayette Hotels Gary Bulduc, Bangor Resident Linda Ergas, Channel7 Fred Vardamis, Bangor Resident Arvilla Verceles, Bangor Resident Martha&Royce Day, Bangor Residents The meeting was called to order at approximately 4 PM by Chair, Councilor Tyler. He updated the Committee on what has occurred over the past few days stating that a letter(under his signature)was mailed on Tues., 9/16 to Stephen King inquiring of the possibility of using Mansfield Stadium for some 1998 Blue Ox games as long as none of the other existing games were displaced. Also, in response to Governor Angus King's offer to participate in the stadium • effort, Councilor Tyler sent a letter requesting his assistance in encouraging regional support and stating the City is open to any suggestions that he or his staff may have. .�. �. � 2/ � Informational items were passed out to the Committee on the general topics that need to be covered in the remaining meetings. City Engineer Jim Ring also provided informational materials on the potential3 sites at Bass Park as well as the preparation costs involved-taking into consideration all things necessary before construction. Issues surrounding Bass Park(raised by Doug Clendenning at the 9/15 meeting)were also discussed. Councilor Tyler further stated that there would be discussion on possible temporary locations if a permanent stadium cannot be constructed in time for the 1998 season. Councilor Tyler added that Finance Director Ron Heller will be getting figures on the operating expenses and revenues to Committee members for their review by the weekend in order to discuss at the Monday, 9/22 meeting. For next Wednesday's meeting (9/24)there will be discussion on capital costs and potential financial sources. It is hoped that by the last meeting on Oct. ls`the Committee will be able to assemble a final report. Erik Stumpfel reviewed policy on whether or not a stadium use is permissible for the Bass Park area. It was noted that the attorneys for Bass Park have indicated that the name "Bass Park Complex" be retained. Councilor Tyler at this time called to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22, at 4:00 PM. • rp •
