I. GOLF COURSE UPDATES
A. CONCESSIONS
Three proposals to o��erate the concession area at the I
golf course were rec�ived. The bidders were: Jimmy '
Vardarmis, George Brountas, and Warren Caruso. After
reviewing the proposals, Dale is recommending, to the
� Finance Committee, t�iat we negotiate with Jimmy
Vardarmis to operatelthe concessions. It is possible
the negotiations will include renovating the
concession area.
B. DINING DECK
Approval to proceed in designing an outdoor dining
deck has been given l��y the Finance Committee.
� C. CART PATHS
The cart paths have l�een paved by the public works
department. ,
D. BUSINESS PLAN UPDATE�
Dale distributed copies of the updated Golf Course
Business Plan. Based� on projections, the golf course
debt service may be paid off by 1997. The golf course
reserve fund currently has a total of $156, 000.
E. TEE SIGNS
Golf Associates Scorecard Company, the firm selling
advertising for tee signage on the original 18-hole
course, reports haviiig sold 16 of the 18 tee signs.

II. NAVAL RESERVE CENTER
Recently a contingent from the City toured the Naval •
Reserve Center, on �ssex Street (possible future home of
Parks ar�d_-�tecreatiora. )��he. facility was .neat and well
kept. Questions wer:e raised a�out the extent of asbestos
in the�facility, the �ondition of the wiring, and yearly
costs of utilities. The facility is expected to be
va�ant sometime aft.er April, 1993.
III. YOUTH SOCCER
The youth soccer program for children in grades K to 5
concluded on Saturday, Octobe� 31. The program is co-
sponsored by us and the Bangor YMCA. We served over 350
children this ye,ar and were assisted by over 50
volunteers.
IV. HALLOW�EN ACTI��.TIES
A. COLORING
We had 211 children in grades K, 1, & 2 submit
Halloween pictures. Trophies were awarded for 1st,
2nd, and 3rd plac,es in each grade level.
B, WINDOW PAIN��lUG
We �ad 13� childr�n in grades 3, 4, & 5 paint windows �
at �k}:� �ir ,,ort M�3,1. Trophies were awarded for lst,
��nra,���=�nci����1 plac�,s i.n each grade level.

V�� �.ad over 100 partic:ipants, ages 3, 4, 5, attend
a;i��`�I�a.�Toween Party at the Bangor Armory. The Sub Deb
G�:�ib;"��-om�Bango� High School assisted with the
d�coratiric� a�d supervising the activities.

The bid to ��rx�:ish and install the �hain link fence and
backstops at:-�Iie so�tball fields are due November 18
with insta'I-1=ati:on �toXbe completed by January 15, 1993 .

I. GOLF COURSE RENOVATIONS
Dale showed preliminary plans for renovations at the
golf course club house. The renovations include re-
locating the pro shop, expanding the dining area, and
� refurbishing the locker rooms. The price tag for .the .
renovations is estimated at $50,000. Future expansion
includes an outdoor dining deck.
II. GOLF COURSE MEMBERSHIPS
As of today (12/7) there have been 124 resident
memberships and 28 non-resident memberships sold. In
1992, the total number �f inemberships were 208 residents
and 52 non-residents.
� III. SOFTBALL FIELDS
The lights and poles fo:r the new softball fields at
Union Street have been .installed. The fence bids should �
be awarded soon. All wo _k is expected to be done by May
1.
IV. NORTH POLE CALLING
Our annual North Pole Calling program, which is
sponsored in part by Bangor Noontime Kiwanis, has begun.
This year we received o��er 200 applications from
children in grades k, 1,, 2.
V. UPCOMING PROGRAMS
Introduction to Gymnast:Lcs begins January 5
K, 1, 2 Basketball begiiis January 9
Ski Lessons begin January 19
Ski Trip to Sugarloaf - Saturday, January 30
Father/Daughter Valenti�ie Dance - Friday, February 12
The next meeting of the Advisory Board will be on MONDAY,
Jaauary 4 at 4:00 P.M. at our office at 647 Main Street.
