' School Committee Members present: Wazren Caruso, Marc Eastman, Sue Hawes, Sarah Smiley, Sue Sorg,
Marlene Susi and Jay Ye.
' A, l.&2. The meeting was called ta arder by Chairman Caivsa at 7:02 p.m, and the Pledge of
Allegiance follQwed.
B. Superintendent Webb recammended adjusting ihe Agenda to add J. Executive Session for the
, purpose of consulfing witt►the school attorney pursuant ta I MRSA subsection 405{6}(E).
VQTED 7-0 to adjusE the Agenda as recommended.
� D.2. a. Each year the Department af Edncadon xequires an�etober 1"count of the students identified
for special education programming. Director Patti Rapaport provided the Committee with an
update of the Bangor speciat educatian programs,enrollment,and eligibility reqeiirernents.
' b. Assistant Superintendent Robert MacDonald shared the MEA Science Assessment results as
compared to other schools testing ai least 100 studenks. Bangor schools have continued to
' perform at high achievement levels as compared to others throughout the State.
Committee Members Ye and Caruso cammented on the success of the schools,the effarts af
the siudents, faculty and staff, leadership af the administration, and the support of the
� Cammunity all play a parE in the high achiEvement levels.
c. Superintendent Webb reported the following retirement:

d. Director of Business Services Alan Kachis reviswed the budgets of the FairmflunE School,
' Frait Street School and Fourteenth Street School.

superintendent each December for the following school year. All Maine schaal units are
� req�ired by law to have a superintendent.

nex#schoal year 2015-2016.

e. Superintendent Webb reported the following donations:
Ta Mary Snaw School from S�Paul the Apostle Parish, 18 pairs af sneakers and 6 packets of ,
socks,having a total dollar value of�400.
Ta Wiiliam S. Cohen School from the William S. Cohen Schoal Booster Club, three ,
superdrives campati'ble with teacher iMacs,having a total dallar value of$225.
To James F. Doughty Schoot from an anonymous donor, twenty-two $10 iTunes gift cards,
having a total dollaz value of�220. �

VUTED 7-4 to approve the Second Readings of all policies as presented.
F. 2. a Committee Member Smiley reported on the Dropout Preveption Committee Meeting. She is �
happy to report that the gracivation rate conrinues to climb ancl the dropaut rate conrin�es to
drop. Member Smiley was impressed with the efforts af ihe faculry and staff to avnnect with
and motivate at risk students. '
c. Committee Member Sorg reported on the December 4�`United Technalagies Center manthly
board meeting.Merabers af the UTC Boazd were treated to a meal prepared by the vocational '
students prior to the meeting. At the meeting,new board members were sworn in and newly
elected Interim Director Greg Miller shared his gosls for ihe future.

VOTED 7-0 to dismiss James McHenry based on the findings that he is unfit to teach and
unprofitable to the Bangor School Departmer�t and to adopt the findings of fact as prepared by
thc schoal attorney. �
