The meeting was called to order by Chairman Carusa at 7;U{} p,m. and the Ptedge of Allegiance followed. B. Superintendent Webb requested amending the Aganda to include D.l.b.Re-admit Student}�. � VOTED 5-U ta amend the Agenda as requested. � D. 1 a. Superintendent Webb recommended ct►ncept approval of the Bangor IIiggit School Fine Arts Academy (FAA.). Principal Paal Butler and Department Chair Kal Elmare presented an overview of the Fine Arts Academy{Visual Arts)far Fa112014. � Committee members asked questians aad voi�ed their snpport for the academy. VOTED�-0 to approve ths concept of the Fine Arts Academy(VA}. � b. 5uperintendent Webb recommended re-admittance of Student X. � VqTED 5-Q to re-admit Student X. 2. a. Direetor Fatti RapapoM reviewed Bangor School Department's Special Education programs, enrollment,and eligibility requirements. � - Cammittee members asked questions abaut the procednres and eligibility requirements. � b. Directar of Food Serviaes Noelie Scott pravided an update on Bangor School Departrnent's - Food Services program. Committee members asked questians about lacal contribution, breakfast program, reirnbursements,and the eligibility process for free and reduced lunah. � c. Director af Adult & Community Eduoation Greg Leavitt provided an update on the Adult Education programs. Gommittee members asked about enrollment,flier distribution,and commented on the wealth � of offerings for citizens. Superintendent Welsb recommended appraval af the November 2413 Ftnancial Staternent. � VOT'ED 5-0 to approve the November 2Q 13 Financial Statemeat as presented, � c. F. 1. Members Guerette and Szal attended the UTC Holiday Luncheon prepared and served by the � culinary ar#s students. Member Guerette alsa shared that the program at UTC has a weekly lanch offering open ta the public and is a great way to svpport our students and have lunch. � Member Hawes shared a tliank you note fram the Bangar Health and Community Services - and the Public Health Advisory Board for attending the Legislative Breakfast at Husson � University. Chauman Caruso, Member Hawes, and Superintendeat 'Webb attended the session. Chairman Caruso asked to have the graduatian rate and dropout rates shared. Bangor High School has had great success in rneeting the targeted growth in these indicators. The � graduation rate(percentage af students graduating within faur years)has growt�from a low of just avar 71%to Iast year's rate of nearly 88%and tbe dropout rate has reduced from a high af nearly 6.5%to 2.75%.After three years,Bangor High Sohoo) is nearing the tsn year g4a1 ;� for the graduation rate and has already met the ten year goal for the dropo�t rate. The credit interventions and recovery efforts have been successful. � Committee members shared their excitement aver the growth in these targets and the efforts of the faculty and staff to support students while mainmining high standards. Sugenntendent Webh summarized the meeting af City Council members,City Manager,and � Chairman Caivso with the Commissioner of Eduaatian regarding charter schools and superintendents'ageements. ,�.
