The Bangor School Committee Regular Meeting was called te order by Vice Chaiiman � Caruso at 7:40 p,m.,and the Pledge of Allegiance fotlowed. � � D.2, a. University of Maine Researchers Stacy Doore and Janet NichoIs presented a summary of € their findings on non-promotianal mobility and the impaat on student achievement � Committee members ask�d questions and expressed their appreciation nf the University E working with the Bangor School Depariment ta study policy and educa#iona[impiications. € � F b. Dr.Mohamad Musavi,UMaine Assoc�ate Dean of the Collega of Engineering and Professor � of Electrical and Camputer Engineering,and BHS Scie�nce Department Chairman Cary James provided an update on the recent awarding af a Natfanal Scisuce Foundation Grant it1 the amount of appraxianately$750,QOt}over three years to further students' study of stormwater managemen� Cammittee members asked questions and shared thsir excit�ment about j st�idents being involved in experiential learning and working ta solve real wortd problems in � the cominunity. � c. Director of B�siaess Services Alan Kochis reviewed the completed Summer Projects made tu f the Bangar schoals and facilities. Committee Members were especially pleased with the ; � security improvements made wrthin the schoats. i d. VOTED�F-0 to approve the Minutes af the September 11, 2013 Regular Schoal Cammittee � Meeting. b. 1. Suparintendent Webb reaommended approval of the August 2t}13 Financial Statement. �� VOTED 4-p to apprave the financial statement as presented. c. 1. Superintendent Webb recommended the fallowing Teacher nominations far the 2t}13-2a14 � school year: Tina L. RaggIes, �pecial Education Teacher at Bangor High Schaal, with a one-year �' Probationary Contract far 2013-2014. � � Minutes,Regular Meeting,September 25,2013 Z. ' Debra A. Swett,Reading Recovery/Title I Teacher at Downeast and Fairmount Schools,with a one year Prabationary Contract far 2U13-2414. � The Committee adjaurned to review the fiIes. VOTED 4-0 to approve the nominations as presented. � 2. Superintendent Webb reparted the following donation and Camp Directors Martha GIadstane and Barbara Clewelly presented a check: To William S.Cohen Schaal fram Invent Now,a cash donatian in the amannt of$600. � VaTED 4-4 to approve the donation with thanks. � 2. a. l. Superintendent Webb recommended receipt af the First Reading of revised Policy 3ICK Butlying in Schoc►!s. � VOTED 4-4 to receive the First Reading of revised Policy JICK Bullying in Schoats as presented. H. l. Vice Chairman Caruso reviewed the important dates. � I. Wice Chairman Caruso again expressed his excitement over the NSF grant and the � opportunity for our students and teachers to eagage in a callaborative effart, improve their skills,and have a positive impact on the community.
