Memberships of both the Commission and Committee are comprised of citizen -appointed members. The City Council appreciates and is thankful for the efforts and energy invested by our citizen appointees, all of whom are well -versed in their respective roles. City Manager Introduced for: First Reading City Solicitor F_x inance Director 23-058 01-23-2023 CITY COUNCIL ORDINANCE Date: January 23, 2023 Assigned to Councilor: Davitt ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 23 of the Code of the City of Bangor, Sections 23-13 and 23-14(C), and Chapter 28 of the Code of the City of Bangor, Article XI, Section 28-50, to Remove City Council Membership WHEREAS, the City Council appoints members of the public to a variety of boards, committees, and commissions; and WHEREAS, interested citizens apply for and are interviewed for City Council consideration of appointment; and WHEREAS, with the increased accessibility through electronic means to attend and review all citizen - appointed boards, committees, and commission meetings, the need for a City Councilor to serve as a liaison to only a few committees is no longer required. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR AS FOLLOWS, THAT Chapter 23 of the Code of the City of Bangor is amended as follows: Article III Commission on Cultural Development §23-13 Establishment; membership. There is hereby established a Commission on Cultural Development for the City of Bangor which shall consist of 11 members who shall be appointed by the City Council § 23-14 Qualifications. A. Four members shall possess credentials and expertise in one or more areas of arts, culture, and humanities, which may include, but not be limited to, architecture, landscape architecture..., museum curator or other museum professional, professional visual or performing artist (including musical artist), art educator, and manager of a cultural organization B. Seven members shall be appointed as at -large members of the Commission. 23-058 01-23-2023 § 28-50 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. In accordance with Article V, Section 2(a) of the City Charter, there is hereby authorized and established a Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee to consist of eleven persons who shall be appointed by the City Council, at least two of whom shall be appointed to represent the users of the Bangor Municipal Golf Course, at least one person having an interest and knowledge of recreational boating, and one person having a direct connection with the downtown business community. = ,..,ity -. a-f e i' p e i...... a........ ,., a .....e. . ,.
