Title, Ordinance
Amending Chapter 260, Signs to Allow for Larger Directional Signs in Bass Park and on the Waterfront, and, to
Allow Building Name Signs in the Downtown Area to be Exempt from Sign Area Calculations.
Summary
This Ordinance will amend the Sign Code to allow more signage for directional purposes in the Bass Park
district and the Waterfront Development District. This is to allow better visibility for pedestrians and vehicles
to limit driver confusion and pedestrian conflict. This change meets the purpose and intent of allowing for and
regulating signage, for the safety and convenience of the traveling public.
This change also adds the ability to exempt the building name that is either embedded or placed on a building
from the calculations for allowed signs. These named buildings add character to the core business district and
this change provides an incentive for property owners to keep them displayed.
