HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-09-26 ProclamationWHEREAS, the City of Bangor has formally recognized a climate emergency exists and made a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, and WHEREAS, the City is actively engaged in a regional climate action planning process to help us reach our goals in line with Maine Won't Wait, the State of Maine's Climate Action Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Bangor is committed to a clean energy future and supports renewable energy that powers homes, businesses, and schools across our community; and WHEREAS, the State of Maine has increased its Renewable Portfolio Standard to 80 percent by 2030 and has a goal of 100 percent renewable energy by 2050-,and WHEREAS, the City continues to make efforts to transition to clean energy when possible, including purchasing hybrid and electric vehicles, programs that support subsidized heat pumps for residents, and creation of a municipal solar projectd WHEREAS, National Clean Energy Week provides an opportunity for individuals, local governments, corporations, and other organizations in Maine to champion common sense solutions that address the United States' evolving economic and energy needs. i1ir !I wjs I a Emyj I V�=Oip, I a L" I wal 2 19, 1111 C 11 Il Iij Iii1i 11111111 111 Given this the 26th day of eptember, 2022, F ich ri i L.Fournier 11, Mayor
