CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE Engineering Department January 24, 1966 To: The Municipal Officers Reference is made to City Council Order 47-T, dated January 10, 1966, directing the City Engineer to take the necessary action to discontinue all existing accepted and unaccepted streets within the boundaries of the Stillwater Park Urban Renewal area which are not Included in the new street pattern. In accordance with this direc- tion, the following report Is submitted: City Council Order 35-T, passed Dec. 13, 1965, authorized the acceptance of the new street layout, thereby making the existing street pattern obsolete. In this respect, It is recommended that Now following streets be discontinued: Regalia Avenue from Still- water Avenue east to its present terminus, the northerly end of Birch Street, the northerly and of Fern Street, Stacy Avenue, Park Row, Hickory Street, Ash Street, Cherry Street, Ruby Street, Boylston Street, Opal Street, Plum Street, Green Street, Beech Street the southerly end of Harvard Street, Colby Street, the northerly and of Dartmouth Street, the westerly end of Rates Street, and the norther- ly and southerly ends of Yale Street. It should be noted that por- tions of the above-described streets fall within the limits of the recently accepted new street pattern and are thus considered as a part of the now streets. A review was made of the existing properties within the areae which abutted on the existing streets and a public hearing was held In tte office of the City Engineer on Friday, Jan. 21st, at 10:00 A. M. for the purpose of assessing all damages or benefits as a re- sult of said discontinuance. Previous notice was given to any or all persona who might wish to appear to be heard upon the subject; no person appeared at the time and place get for the meeting. In this respect, no damages are recommended as a result of the dlsoon- tinuence Inasmuch as the new subdivision of the land which is being prepared by the Urban Renewal Authority will insure that all exist - Ing properties which might have abutted on any of the existing streets to be discontinued will now abut on one of the newly accepted streets. It is therefore recommended that the above-described streets be discontinued and removed from the Official City Map. A plan showing those streets and portions of streets that are to be dis- continued is attached.
