WHEREAS, the City Manager has been authorized by Council Order 104-5, passed April 26, 1965, to enter into an agreement with Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. for the preparation of final Plans and specifications for Stages I and II of the proposed in- terceptor sever and treatment plant facility and, WHEREAS, Stages I and II include only the treatment plant, the Penobscot vest interceptor and Eenduskeag main interceptor to Matfield's Mill, and, WHEREAS, the recent application for Federal funds which was approved by the Public Health Service included the installa- tion of the Eenduskeag siphon and the Penobscot east interceptor to Essex Street, said work being beyond the scope of the contract with Metcalf & Eddy, now therefore, be it CHEERED, that the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to enter into a supplemental agreement with Metcalf & Eddy, Ino. for the preparation of final plane and specifications for the Eenduskeag Stream crossing and the Penobscot east interceptor to Essex Street, A copy of the agreement is attached hereto. The construction work _or the connection from the Kenduskeag West Interceptor to the Kenduskeag Pump Station, the overflow and diversion chambers at each side of Kenduskeag Stream and the stream crossing and Penobscot East Interceptor to Essex Street are to be Included in one contract vith the Penobscat West Interceptor. Frawley December 33 1969 Wu would Provide the engineering services as set forth under Section "^_ pork ox �n Sneers," papa 2 of our proposal dated December , , J ems o T. inclusive, in connection with the dssigi of the additional work including the Kenduskeag Str:am crossing, the overflow and diversion chamber at the east side of the stream, the Penobscot East Interceptor thence to the Essex Street sewer and annurtenant works not otherwise provided for in the said proposal of December 1, 1964. The fee for the above indicated services for additional designs is to be % percent of the estimated coat of construction as defined in peragrayh C -IX o' the cro,iosal dated December 1, 19643 but not lees than $80000. In connection with the design of the Penobscot Beat Interceator to Essex Street, it will be nee-asary to prepare a suitable nrofile and location plan for the remainder of the interceptor, based upon accurate survey data. (The data Indicated on topographic mans previously used in connection with the nrecaratlon of the report, in some locations, aP�ear to be somewhat unaatlsfactory for det.:i1 design purnoses. In the event th t engineering services are reouired in connection with the preparation of a plan and profile for the Pinobscot East Interceptor east of Essex Street, compensation for such services a, Metcalf & 3ddy3 Inc., are to be as set forth In paiagranh C -IV of the Proposal dated December 1, 1964. If we have not defined the services desired or there are questions concerning this submission, we shall be pleased to make such changes as you require. We mould like a cosy of the revised anplicatian for our files and such engineering data as were submitted with it, If it is not too much bother.
