TO: The Honorable City Council
PACK: The Planning Board
B8: CC. Order 56V - change from Agricultural Zone to General Business
Zone, a parcel of land located on the southwesterly side of Union
Street adjacent to Dow Air Force Base.
gentlemen
Please be advised that the Planning Board held a public hearing
on the above request.
After consideration, the Board voted to approve Me request for
a zone change - but recommend to the Council that they delete a thirty
(30) -foot strip of laud along Union Street from the Done change.
As the "]OP' traffic consultant has recommended widening of
Union Street by acquisition of 22 feet from each side and because the
City Engineer, John Frawley, has indicated that it will be very difficult
to acquire such on the east side, the Board is r ending acquisition
of 30 feet along the west side of Union Street including the land in
question.
Acquisition of this parcel required for future street purpose
should be by dedication as it does not effect the value or use of the
property.
