Subject: Construction New Winterized Stables at Bass Park
In accordance with your recent request, a study has been
made relative to the possible construction of winterized
stables at Bass Park. It is proposed that the construction
consist of concrete block walls on a Concrete foundation wall,
wood frame roof with asphalt shingles, sliding wood doors at
each end, and aluminum frame windows. The estimated cost of
stable to house erx horses, which would include two extra
stalls, is $7,000. Asimilar stable to house twenty horses,
which would include four extra Stalls, would cost $20,000.
If you have any further questions, please contact this
office.

MEMORANDUM
January 3, 1968
TO:
MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM:
CM MANAGER
SUBJECT:
BASS PAM STABLES
The cost of the construction of improved stables at Bass Park has
been presented to the Council previously. However, for your records,
this figure has been estimated at $7,000 for 6 stalls or $20,000 for 24 stalls.
The average number of stalls occupied varies but recently has been
13 to 14. At the present time, however, we have 24 horses located at
Bass Park stables.
The rental presently charged Is $10 per month or any part of a month
and occupancy usually continues from October through April or approximately
7 months.
Using the $7,000 figure for 6 stalls, our Income would be $60 per
month for 7 months or $420 par year. Average interest over a 10 year
period on $7, 000 at 5% would be $210.00 par year and amortization would
be $700, or a total of $910. Proper maintenance would require an additional
$100 per year making a grand total of $1010. A rental of approximately
$25 per month would be required to produce sufficient revenue to Justify
building adequate stalls as proposed. We are presently in the process of
surveying owners of horses located at Bass Park to determine if there is
interest in utilizing new and better facilities in this rental range.
