MEMORANDUM
Date September 16, 1966
T0: City Manager
boom Chief of Police
Subject Reply to Memorandum 18, parking request
(Essex and Somerset Streets)
Mrs. Gaughan, who operates a beauty parlor at the
corner of Essex and Somerset Streets, finds that her
customers are experiencing parking problems due to
all -day street storage of cars by students at John
Bapst High School and Husson College.
I recommend that the following be aided to
Schedule VI, Chapter III, Article 6, Section 2.3
of the City ordinances, "Parking Limped to Two
Hours (No Meters)":
Commencing at the southwesterly corner
of Essex and Somerset Streets and ex-
tending westerly along the southerly
side of Somerset Street in front of
No. 77 Somerset Street for a distance
of seventy (70) feet as defined by
signs.
A two-hour zone
is recommended
rather than a
one-hour
zone due to the
fact that many
customers of
the beauty
parlor remain for more than one
hour.
