Grades HillsideAvenue By City Cw, nl of Ve My ofaan w: ORDERED, THATwHEEEAS, a petition has been received requesting the construction and acceptance of Hillside Avenue from School Street to Grandview Avenue and, WHEREAS, the majority of the abutting property owners have agreed to pay their proportionate share of said roadway con- struction, now therefore, be it ORDERED, that the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of the municipal officers according to law, be and hereby is directed to lay out by metes and bounds and to establish a grade for said street, and be it further ORDERED, that the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of said municipal officers, proceed to give written notice of such intentions of said municipal officers by posting notices for seven (7) days in two public places in the city of Bangor and in the vicinity of the proposed laying out, and the City Engineer is further ORDERED, to make a written return of said proceedings contain- ing bounds and ad -measurements for said street, together with a list of damages allowed to each person for all land so taken or for any benefits rsulting to the property o as a result of the laying out, all n i accordance with the laws of the State of Maine, said report to become a part of this order. ��CaJ+r IO CITY COUNCIL Aug. w, 1967 Tabled CLERK IN CITY COUNCIL Aug. 28, 1967 Taken from table, a'etabled. And that the said City Engineer met at the time and place of meeting specified in the notices and proceeded to lay ovt. a follows: Beginning at a point on the northerly line of School Street located 337.50 feet east from the easterly line of Broadway; thence deflecting northerly 731 21' 00" for a distance of 1,187.49 feet to the southerly line of Grandview Avenue; thence east along said southerly line of Grandview Avenue for a dis- tance of 73.75 feet to.a point; thence deflecting south at an angle of 1164 30' 15" on a line parallel to the first described line for a distance of 1,200.67 feet to the northerly line of School Street; thence west along said northerly line of School Street for a distance of 68.88 feet to the point of beginning. Meaning to describe a right-of-way having a width of 66 feet measured at right angles and extending from School Street to Grandview Avenue. Said right -o£ -way is made up of a 16 foot wide strip along the westerly side from land owned by Howard D. Burr as recorded in Penobscot Registry Of Deeds, Volume 1208, Page 6, and by land owned by the City of Bangor and recorded n Penobscot Registry of Deeds, Volume 1685, Page 308; the remaining 50 feet lies within the bounds of the originally dedicated right -o£ -way as shown on the Hillside Plan dated November, 1908 and surveyed by R. E. Mullaney and recorded i; the Penobscot Registry of Deeds. The details of said laying out are shown on City of Bangor Plan No. 814 on file in the office of the City Engineer. The city Engineer proceeded to lay out a grade of said road- way as follows: Beginning at the northerly line of School Street at elevation 179.71; thence ascending on a grade of 0.56% for a distance of 200 feet to elevation 180.83; thence ascending on a 200 foot vertical curve having an external of 0.4 feet to eleva- tion 183.51; thence a ending on a grade of 2.12% for a dis- tance of 50 feet to elevation 184.57; thence ascending on a 200 foot vertical curve having a external of 0.4 feet to eleva- tion 187.35; thence a ending o a grade of 0.66% for a distance 0£ 265 feet to elevation 189.10; thence ascending on a 200 foot vertical curve having an external of 1.1 feet to elevation 194.25; thence ascending on a grade of 4.75% for a distance of 85 feet n the southerly side of Grandview Avenue at elevation 198.55. The above elevations refer to City of Bangor Datum. No person or persons appeared at the time and place set for the meeting. The total area of land to be acquired from Howard D. Burr amounts t0 14,460 square feet and it is recom- mended that payment in the amount 0f five hundred dollars ($500) be made for said acquisition. It is, therefore, recommended that the above-described right-of-way be laid out and added to the official map as a public way to be named and known as Hillside Avenue.
