Policemen and Firemen Ba it ordafaedbyW Oft Castoff of M City of Batman. as Athens: THAT Sections 3.1 and 3.2 of Chapter II, Article 31 of the Ordinances of the City of Bangor be amended to read as follows: 3.1 Qualifications for Policeman. No person shall be appointed to the Police Department who shall be less than five feet nine inches In height or weigh less than 140 pounds or who shall be less than 21 years of age or more than 28 years of age at the time of appointment, except that for any person holding an honorable discharge from any branch of the military service of the United States, the age limit shall be not more than 30 years at the time for appointment. In each case of any former member of the Bangor Police Department, or any other police department, who has been separated from the department for not more than two years, this age limit requirement may be extended by not more than the number of years of prior satisfactory service completed by the applicant, said extension in no case to exceed ten years. Notwithstanding the foregolog requirements the City Manager may appoint to the Police Department a person who does not meet one or more of said oualifications regarding height, weight, and ace: and the Civil Service Commission may include such Person on its list of applicants or its eligible list. If the name of a person not meeting the qualifications recording height, weight and age is furnished on the eligible list. the Civil Service Commission shall certify that in its incessant there exists a shortage of qualified Personnel and shall indicate in what respect and to what extent the applicant fails to meet said qualifications. , 3.2 Qualifications for Fireman. No person shall be appointed to the Fire Department who shall be less than five feet seven Inches in height or weigh less than 135 pounds or who shall be less than 21 years of age or more than 26 years of age at the time of appointment except that for any person holding an honorable discharge from any branch cf the military service of the United States, the age limit shall be not more than 30 years at the time of appointment.
