City of Bangor, a body corporate, located at Bangor,
Penobscot county, Maine, for consideration paid, RELEASE to
Eastern Maine General Hospital, a Maine corporation, having its
principal place of business at Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine,
the land in said Bangor, bounded and described as follows:
A certain lot or parcel of land with the buildings there-
on, atuate i said BANGOR, on the southerly aide of
State Street and between said State Street and the
location of the E. and N. A. Railway, now operated by
the Maine Central Railroad Company, said location and
said State Street coming together at the easterly end of
the lot of land hereby conveyed; said lot is bounded on
the north by State Street; on the south by the railroad
location above named; and on the west by the land of said
Eastern Maine General Hospital.
Meaning and intending to release and there is hereby
released any interest that the City of Bangor may have
in and to the aforedescribed premises by virtue of the
following restriction:
"This de 3 is given and received upon condition that the
lot of land hereby granted and conveyed shall never be
used for any purpose, trade, manufacture or calling
more objectionable to the Hospital and to the neighbor-
hood, and the general public, than a dwelling house and
its ordinary attachments, and that, if said conditions
is violated, this deed is at once to become null and
void. (The erection of a building or store for the sale
of merchandise is not objectionable.)"
The foregoing restriction is contained in the deed of
Frederick G. Quincy to the Eastern Maine General Hospital
dated October 5, 1942, and recorded in the Penobscot
Registry of Deeds, volume 1185, Page 410.
City of Bangor has caused this instrument to be signed
an its corporate name and its corporate seal a£fized by John G.
Field, its Treasurer, duly authorized this 4th day of September,
A.D., 1969.
