This work may include design work and preparation of plana and specifi- cations, the organisation of labor c and equipment to provide an orderly schedule for the completion of all c nstrercion work, assuring that proper methods of construction, uses of equipment, and construction safety precautions are carried out, and scheduling construction layout of line and grade by engineering survey creek. The employee supervises the work of engineering assistants and labor foremen, and Heap were the work of private contractors. Considerable initiative, judgment, and capacity for execution are hbaracteristic of this position, requiring that the employee wort closely with the Director of Operations and Maintenance Division and the Director of the Utilities Division. His work in subject to the review and is under the direction of the City Engineer. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples im lude all teaks which may be found in positions of this class.) Designs, prepares plana and specifications and estimates for construction projects including streets, sidewalks, sewers, drainage, buildings, and parka. Schedules and supervises construction layout and construction of any or ail of the above-mentioned projects as my be scheduled during the e Prepares specifl�atfons and plans for work to be performed by contract, acts as resident engineer or private contracts, includingthe supervision of construction, review of shop u awings, interpretation of plana and specici- catfone, and the review of contractor's estimates. Performa related work as required. REOUIRED KNOWL8W8S. SKILLS. AND ABILITIES Extensive knowledge of the prim iples and practices of civil engineering and construction, particularly those phases relating to municipal public works. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with labor farces, fellow engineers, and other division beads. Skill in making engineering computations and estimates, and ability to prepare plans, spec ificationa, and reports. Knowledge of the proper use of heavy construction equipment and the proper use of construction materials of all types. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING At least two yearn= experience in professional engineering, including responsible experience in design and construction of a variety of engineering projects, with special emphasis on construction supervision. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Clvi'_ Engineering. NECESSARY SPECIAL R80UIR8M8NTS Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional engineer as issued by the Neine State Board of Registration forProfessional Engineers. 407 CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR DEFINITION This is professional civil engineering work consisting isting of the supervision of construction projects carried out by the Operations & Maintenance Division, the Utility Division, or by private contractors.
