THAT the attached report of the City Engineer relative
to the alteration to the Griffin and Strickland Road right-of-way
be and hereby is accepted, and, be it further
ORDERED, that said right-of-way be altered accordingly and
that the damages recommended in said report be paid.

And that the said City Engineer met at the time and place of meeting specified in the notices
and proceeded to Wv out said Griffin Road and Strickland Road alteration
as follows:

Description
Griffin Road from Ohio Street to Kenduskeag Stream
Said portion of Griffin Road is widened from 50 feet to 70
feet by the acquisition of a 10 -foot strip along both sides, des-
cribed as follows:
Beginning at a point on the easterly line of Ohio Street, said
point located 10 feet south from the southerly right-of-way line
of Griffin Road;
thence North 71"-07'-00" East on a line parallel to and 10
feet south from said southerly line of Griffin Road for a distance
of 325 feet m or less to the westerly line of land owned by
Luther I. Gary;

thence north along said property line for adistance of 2 feet;
thence east on a line parallel to and 6 feet south from the
southerly line of Griffin Road for a distance of 105 feet to the
easterly line of said Gary property!
thence south along said property line for a distance of
2 feet;
thence North 710 - 07' - 00" East for a distance of 350 feet
more or less ona line parallel to and 10 feet south from the
southerly line of Griffin Road to Kenduskeag Stream;
thence north along said Kenduskeaq Stream for a distance of
10 feet more or lees to the southerly line of Griffin Road;
thence South 71" - 07' - 00" West along said southerly line
of Griffin Road for a distance of 780 feet more or less to the
southerly line of Ohio Street;
thence south along said southerly line of Ohio Street for a
distance of 10 feet to the point of beginning; and,
Beginning at a stone monument on the northerly line of
Griffin Road at a point approximately 22 feet east from the pro-
jection of the easterly line of Ohio Street;
thence North 71" - 07' - 00" East along said northerly line
of Griffin Road for a distance of 768 feet more or less to Ken-
duskeaq Stream;

thence north along said Kenduskeag Stream to a point located
10 feet north from and measured at right angles to said northerly
line of Griffin Road;
thence South 71" - 07' - 00" East along a line parallel to and
10 feet north from said northerly line of Griffin Road for a dis-
tance of 781 feet more or less to the easterly line of Ohio Street;
thence southeast along said easterly line of Ohio Street for
a distance of 17 feet more or leas to the point of beginning.
Griffin Road between Kenduskeag Stream and Kenduskeag Avenue
The existing 50 foot right-of-way is widened to 60 feet by
the acquisition of 10 feet along the southerly side described as
follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly line of
Griffin Road and the westerly line of Kenduskeag Avenue;
thence South 211 - 10' - 30" East along said westerly line of
Kenduskeag Avenue for a distance of 30 feet;
thence North 66" - 10' - 30" West for a distance of 44 feet
to a point located 10 feet south measured at right angles from
the southerly line of Griffin Road;
thence South 71" - 07' - 00" West along the line parallel
to and 10 feet south from the southerly line of Griffin Road for a
distance of 795 feet more or less to Renduskeag Stream;
thence north along said Kenduskeag Stream for a distance of
10 feet more or less to the southerly line of Griffin Road;
thence North 711 - 07' - 00" East along said southerly line
of Griffin Road for a distance of 825 feet more or less to the
point of beginning; and
Beginning at the intersection of the northerly line of
Griffin Road and the westerly line of Kenduskeag Avenue;
thence North 161 - 14' - 00" West along the westerly line of
Kenduskeag Avenue for a distance of 15 feet;

thence South 281-46'-00" west for a distance of 22 feet to
the northerly line of Griffin Road;
thence North 71"-07'-00" East for a distance of 15 feet to
the point of beginning.
Strickland Road from Kenduskeag Avenue East
Said Strickland Road right-of-way is relocated and widened
from 49.5 feet to 80 feet for a distance of approximately 1750
feet east from Kenduskeag Avenue as follows:
Beginning at a point on the easterly line of Nenduskeag
Avenue at the intersection Of a projection of the Griffin Road
right-of-way centerline, said point being 207 feet more or less
north from the centerline of the existing Strickland Road right-
of-way:
thence North 711-07'-00" East on a projection of the Griffin
Road centerline for a distance of 329.6 feet;
thence along a circular curve to the left, said curve having
radius of 2864.79 feet, for adistance of 797.91 feet to a point,
said point being on the centerline of the existing Strickland Road
right-of-way;
thence North 551-09'-30" East for a distance of 588.62 feet.
The above-described line represents the centerline of a new 80
foot wide right-of-way.
Discontinuance of a Portion Of Strickland Road
The existing portion of Strickland Road which lies between
the southwesterly line of the above-described new Strickland Road
right-of-way and the easterly right-of-way line of Renduskeag
Avenue shall be discontinued as a public way, reserving the
rights of existing utilities within said right-of-way to retain
occupancy.

GRADE
The grade of Griffin Road and Strickland Road is altered as
follows:
Beginning at the easterly right -o£ -way line of Ohio Street
at elevation 139.68;
thence descending on a 100 foot vertical curve having a
external of 0.29 feet, and continuing to descend on a grade of
-7.30% for a distance of 470 feet, and thence along a 200 foot
vertical curve having a external of 1.60 feet to elevation 90.92
at the west end of the Griffin Road bridge;
Beginning at a point 8 feet east from the easterly and of
the Griffin Road bridge at elevation 88.90;
thence ascending on a 320 foot vertical curve having an
external of 1.95 feet and continuing to ascend on a grade of
3.938% for a distance of 410 feet to elevation 109.88;
thence ascending on a 300 foot vertical curve having an
external of 1.02 feet to elevation 117.57;
thence ascending on a grade of 1.20)6 for a distance of 100
feet to elevation 118.77;
thence continuing to ascend on a 500 foot vertical curve
having an external of 0.81 feet toelevation 128.07;
thence acending on a grade of 2.50% for a distance of
959.42 feet to elevation 152.00 on the centerline of the exist-
ing Strickland Road.
The above-described laying out requires a partial acquisi-
tion of the following properties:

There appeared at the time and place set for the meeting Mr.
Luther Gary, Mr. Luther Gary, Jr., Mr. Ralph Conley, Mr. Everett
Whitney, Mr. and Mrs. W. Eugene Damsons, Mr. Albert Bean, and
Mr. Patrick Storey. The project was discussed, the recommended
dama4es were made known, and all present indicated that they
were generally in favor of the proposed project. Previous and
subsequent telephone discussions were also had with Judson M.
Grant, Jr. on behalf of his Father, Mrs. Leslie Wentworth, Mrs.
Peter J. Sulinski, representing the Wosneak Devisees, and Floyd
W. Melvin, Jr. No person indicated that they were opposed to
the project or were aggrieved with the recommended damages.
The details of the line and grade of the roadway, as well
as the individual land acquisitions as listed above, are shown
On City of Bangor Plan No. 821 -RW, RIGHT-OF-WAY PLAN GRIF£IN-
STRICELAND ROAD RECONSTRUCTION, Sheets 1 through 4 of 4, dated
April 10, 1969, which are on file in the office of the City
Engineer.
It isemended that the roadway be altered as described
above and that the recommended damages be paid.
