T0: The Honorable City Council and
City Manager, Merle P. Goff
FROM: The Planning Board
BE: Abraham Lincoln School Development
Gentlemen:
The Planning Board has met on several occasions with the Planning
Staff, Superintendent of Schools and Manager toconsider the proposed
development of the Abraham Lincoln School. The Board has given serious
consideration to the many elements and factors Involved i omplishing
the needs for additional school facilities in this area and the relationship
to the Comprehensive Plan for Bangor's development.
After consideration of the problems involved as well as alternative
possibilities, the Planning Board has voted to recommend the development of
the Abraham Lincoln School at its existing site through the acquisition of
the lands as proposed by the several school consultants, building arlhitect,
as well as the "701" land o ailment. It is their feeling that with all
elements considered, this appears to be The logical and appropriate location
to serve Bangor school needs in the future. Again they are rec
ending
acquisition of the blocks boarded by Forest, State and Parkviewand
development of the Abraham Lincoln School at is present site.
The Planning Board Is concurring with the recommendation of the
School Board.
