Signs
Be it ordained by W City Council of the City ofBanyor, ass ibllame:
That Chapter VI, Article 3, Section 8 shall be accused to read as follows:
8.14 KenduekeaR Stream Urban Renewal Pxoiect Area. Signs on properties
located in the Kenduskeag Stream Urban Renewal Plan, USE. R -J),
as mended, shall also conform to the provisions saluting to signs
of said Urban Renewal Plan, as follows:
Signs
1. General Provisions
Each business shall be permitted one horizontal sign facing on
each public right of way or public parking area
n which each
business establishment has a public entrance and direct frontage.
Signa may identify the business or fire located on the premises
and the general type of goods or services obtainable on the
premises.
All signs shall be attached to and parallel to the building. If
marquees or
ma
red walkways are provided. signs y be suspended

Signa shall not be painted directly on the surface of any building.
Lettering only my be applied directly to the windows on or above
the second floor. Sides on buildings Ehalluot cover or conceal
from public view any doors, windows, bulkheads or any surrounding
trim of same.
The total area in square feet of all signs on the building frontage
of each public right of way or public parking area shall net exceed
two time the lineal feet of frontage of the building on the public
right of way or public parking area.s

sales may be authorized by resolution of the Authority with the approval
of the Planning Board up to a maximmm of two times the lfueal feet of
frontage provided that the Authority shall find:
a That the sign is compatible with the over-all design of the
building height, bulk, materials and other design and occupancy
elements.
b. That the sign will not have a deleterious effect upon adjacent
property.
C. That the sign will not cone titute a insert to the flow of
vehicular traffic.

Signs shall not be animated or flashing and, if illuminated, shall
be lighted form sources which are shielded from streets and adjoining
properties and with no exposed lights. The Intensity of light shall
remain constant in color, location and intensity.
New billboards and roof signs shall be prohibited.
2. Exceptions

Canopy, marquee and covered walkways signs shall comply with the
above regulations except size, which shall be regulated by the Building
Code.
3. Applicability
The sign requirements enumerated in the foregoing shall apply to
Conservation Properties as well as piepostion Parcels.
