Article 3, Section.. 8.14 - Signs Be U ordained by the CUa Council of the Cita of Bang", as foEbnm: — That Chapter V1, Article 3, Section 8.14, Paragraph 2 N the Laws and Ordinances of the City of Bangor is hereby amended by the addition of the following: One ground sign shall be permitted for a free standing building which has a minimum set back of 30 feet from the street or public property line on which said building has direct frontage provided that such sign is located on _aid frontage and is either: (a) A building identification sign for a building with more than one business tenant. Such sign may be permitted in additz an to business signs attached to the building, provided such ground sign is used solely to identify the building or development, and provided that the maximum size of such sign and sign structure shall not exceed the overall dimensions of four feet in height (measured from ground level where located), four feet in length and one and one half feet in thickness and that the maximum area of sign faces shall not exceed six square feet each, or. (b) A business identification sign fol a building with a single business occupant when said building i of such design that a wall sign would not be compatible therewith and when such ground sign is in lieu of the permitted business sign attached to the building. BaldaeCi, BallOU, Barry, mow. ,: Page Two Any ground sign permitted under the above exceptions shall meet the following additional provisions: Said sign shall be free standing, permanently located, single or double faced and if illuminated, interior lighting shall be provided by underground electrical service. Sign faces shall be parallel to each other with lettering applied only on the two parallel feces. Such signs shall not be erected within five feet of a street, public parking area, adjoining property line or building structure. Such sign shall also comply with all provisions of the Plan not inconsistent with this subsection. The provisions of this subsection may be varied by resolution of the Authority with the approval of the Design Review Committee, if the Authority shall find: a. That the sign is conpatible with the over-all design of the building height, bulk, materials and other design and occupancy elements. b. That the sign will not have a deleterious effect upon adjacent property. C. That the sign will not constitute a hazard to the flaw of vehicular traffic. d. That the sign shall not in any way conflict with traffic or public information signs.
